Diddy's Making The Band 3 (Danity Kane), 1st season finalist Natasha Walton, better known as La Femme NIKITA hails straight out of the Lone Star State of Texarkana, Texas! Natasha had a natural love for music. Coming from a loving and very spiritual family, singing for the good Lord always came first. Natasha had been singing solos in church, performing in talent shows and writing her own songs since the age of 7. At the age of 13 Natasha started rapping, thus her alter ego La Femme NIKITA was born. Soon after her 18th birthday, she decided to take a chance at furthering her career by moving to the East Coast! New York, NY "Big City of Dreams," no doubt her first choice being influenced by artists such as Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill, Nas, The Notorious BIG, and Jay-Z. Natasha settled in East Orange, NJ, where she got a taste of the inner city street life. Moving to the East Coast was a major culture shock, and a huge transition for her, but she adapted quickly. Seizing the opportunity for a big break, she auditioned for MTV's Making The Band 3. Though Natasha made it as a finalist, that brick cold East Coast weather got a hold of her vocal chords, knocking her out of the competition. But that didn't stop her from pursuing her dream. Although she didn't make the band, Natasha was able to network her way into signing with the prominent independent label She Records.
In June, Natasha Walton code name: La Femme NIKITA independently released her first album titled "nom de code: NIKITA," with a single and music video for "Ain't Nuthin." When asked about Hip-Hop today she says "I love the fact that artist such as myself, with a huge fan base have the option of being independent. I pocketed 90% of the return off my download sales, a little over $45,000 to date." She quickly created a national buzz selling worldwide attracting major label attention!
Recently, NIKITA has been featured in the first issue of the Underwire Interactive Magazine, hosted by the Aphilliates' DJ Drama, and actor/ comedian Jamie Kennedy, that sold well over 500,000 units, WHO?MAG TV & DVD Magazine, and Worldwide Westside Magazine. WHO?MAG TV airs twice a week prime time on COOLTV, which is based out of the UK. The show airs in over 40 countries and reaches over 120 million households! WHO?MAG DVD, is distributed nation wide via Suncoast, Best Buy, Sam Goody, Block Buster, and Net Flix. Her feature in WWS Magazine garnered such a huge response, she was asked to do the cover for the first issue of their Indie Edition! You can also hear Nikita spittin' fire on DJ Fathom's mixtape "Da Sneak Attack", the cut "That's My Boy" by Capitol Records' recording artist Bossaliny, produced by Don Vito ("Do it To it" by Cherish & "Good Luck Charm" by Jagged Edge) off Bossaliny's forthcoming album "Bossaliny for President", and also along side Ma Barker, and Hed onis da Amazon, on the remix to Santalina's "Shake". La Femme NIKITA 's fan base more than doubled when her music video for Ain't Nuthin' premiered on Rap City & BET.com's Ya' Heard Videos. The success of her music video gained her an article in Vol.2, Issue 12 of Hip Hop Weekly with Lil' Wayne on the cover, a full page tribute in the popular urban publication, Rap Fanatic Magazine, with 50 Cent & Boyz N' Da Hood on the cover, and a front page position on Billboard.com as a featured artist! Creating such a buzz in her hometown her NEW! hit singles "Patrón" & "Flossin" have been added to full rotation on KZRB 103.5 FM & 99.7 FM KMJJ, servicing a 50000 watts four states area including Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. The new favorite female emcee is definitely on her grind! Remember her name, you won't forget her face!
