Overview: In 1997 Mike Rodgers traveled to Nashville to fulfill his dream in the music business. With little money in his pockets Rodgers' lived out of his car for a couple of weeks, not knowing that he would soon find a way to generate income as a professional boxer. The story of Rodgers pro boxing career is nothing short of legendary. Rodgers learned about professional boxing shows held in downtown Nashville when he was offered a chance in the ring. Rodgers first professional boxing license bears the address of a local honky-tonk bar because his car was his home. Rodgers still keeps that boxing license in his wallet as a reminder of his tremendous struggles. Rodgers entered the boxing ring in a pair of tennis shoes, swimming trunks and cowboy hat. A drunk in the crowd yelled: "Hey cowboy, who in the hell are you, the Honkytonk Hitman?"
