FROM MASSACHUSETTS TO THE MUSIC CITY, SIMPLI LAURI IS LIVING HER DREAM
Simpli Lauri“I started in New England now I live just outside of Nashville,” stated the artist who calls herself Simpli Lauri. “And to me it's a dream come true. Some that have lived here all their lives take so much in stride. To someone like me, that knows what it's like to fight for what you need, and to battle to keep what you have, I am living proof that dreams do happen, and wishes can come true.”
In the early stages of her singing career, Lauri kept her originals close to her heart, sharing them only with a chosen few. She married her best friend in September of 1987 after both of them had survived bitter divorces and found the true meaning of love in each other. With two children from her first marriage, they added two more to their nest. Lauri was wife and mother first, but always kept a guitar close by. Her children were raised to the sounds of her music and the soothing voice in her lullabies. Occasionally singing in clubs and café’s in the north shore cities and towns of Massachusetts, Lauri never let her passion for singing or songwriting dwindle away.
However, in 1992, Lauri’s husband Steve collapsed with a ruptured brain aneurysm. With the love and support of her family and friends, Lauri was able to spend each day of the next three months at her husband’s side while he recovered. Once home, Lauri transcribed journals she had kept during that nightmare into a novel. “Can You Feel My Tears”, a self published memoir, has been sold not only across the United States, but into Canada, Great Britain, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, as well as being available still on Amazon.com. A poignant account of each day her husband battled back from death’s door, Lauri‘s book has done what she wanted it to do, and that was to let other‘s know how the strength of family and faith can conquer even death.
In 2005, Lauri’s husband Steve decided it was time for Lauri to follow her dreams. They sold their home in New England and moved to Nashville. She quickly made her way into the songwriting circles and captured the hearts of many with her powerful voice. Her voice is unique and the lyrics to her songs send a message to her audience. Lauri is here to stay. She has been described as being able to rock you like Janice Joplin and croon you Patsy Cline. Lauri does anything but disappoint.
Realm Records International, an independent record label based in Virginia, released Simpli Lauri's debut CD titled “Leave the Porch Light On” in early 2008. With ten tracks, some of which she is proud to say were co-written with her husband, her music is already being well received in many of the countries that her book has circulated, such as Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Great Britain and Austria.
In the fall of 2008 Simpli Lauri with the talents of Russonic Records out of Nashville, released her second CD, Body & Soul with 11 more tracks of her original tunes, 10 co-written with her husband, one with her daughter and the cover of her CD a print of her son James painting. A family masterpiece indeed.
Simpli Lauri did not stop there. She is in the midst of her third project, and is still keeping it close to her heart, close to her soul.
The Independent Music Network is proud to have Simpli Lauri on our Syndicated Radio Show this month with her hit song, “Let It Rain.”
