I'm So Confused
We Can Make It Better
I Thank The Lord
Can You Tell Me
I Won't Lie
My music comes to me. It appears as sounds in my head that I have to decipher, and decode, until I can duplicate the melody and harmony. My lyrics are inspired by life. Sometimes mine, sometimes the lives of others, or a need that I find unmet. I'm inspired by the story teller songwriters of the 1960's and 1970's. I can't seem to write about the same old bump and grind, or who did what to who. There is so much of that already, and no one seems to be able to find what they are really looking for. The fire is there for a time and they can't keep it going so it burns out. My lyrics delve into making a relationship work, and what it takes to keep it going.
As for my religious music, it is inspired by God. I don't sit down and plan to write a religious song. It just flows out of me. Sometimes it's only a line here and there until it is complete. Other times, it flows so fast I can hardly keep up with writing down the lyrics and chord changes.
I have never been able to sit down and intentionally write a song of any kind. Several of my songs were literally written in less than fifteen minutes, where others have taken years.
While in college I was fortunate enough to be able to play with some of the great Jazz and Dixie Land legends. It was a thrill. I also worked as a stage hand, and got first hand insight, as well as inspiration and encouragement on what I was trying to accomplish. I was encouraged by family members to never give up my dreams.
