Overview: Saturnshine initially began as a side project for Christian Mesiano during the Winter of 1998. It provided a vehicle for his love of early 80s new wave pop and early 90s dream pop as well as environmental soundscapes, ambient music and film scoring.
In 1999, the first self-titled saturnshine EP was recorded on a 4-track. Shortly thereafter, Saturnshine was put on hold to work on several other band related projects.
In 2001, the second Saturnshine EP, “Tomorrow’s City, Today”, was recorded on a newly upgraded 8-track recorder. Once again, Christian began playing guitar in another band. After that fizzled out, like they all usually did, it was finally time to make Saturnshine his main musical project. His wife, Melodie, whom he had already collaborated with in a few other bands, was now officially brought in to play bass and sing.
Finding nothing but limitations with the 4 and 8-track portastudios that he’d used on earlier recordings, the decision was made to upgrade to a full blown digital audio workstat Artist Site
