Overview: The Black Candle Mass was 10 years in the making before finally being formed February, 2008 by Dustin Rea, Kristopher Ottenbacher, and Nathan Lovett. Bearing one goal in mind: to create a brutal, distinctive form of metal. Starting as young teens, Dustin and Nathan began playing and writing music together. They formed the bands Strik 9 and Down to Earth. The bands, due to life events, eventually dissolved. Nathan went on to play bass in the band Canopic and that lasted 2 years until, once again, life events forced the band to split. Dustin moved South and played with the band DeadWater where he came to know Judder. After a brief experience in the South, he moved back to start regrouping. Then, TBCM invited Judder to join as Vocalist. With all elements in place, The Black Candle Mass recorded and produced a 3-song EP, as well as, a full set-list to begin touring and booking shows in the surrounding areas.
