Overview: While never falling into current metalcore/screamo trends this six piece always delivers a breath of fresh air to an overly saturated market of headbanging and breakdowns. City Under Fire released their self-titled EP in early 2010, generating a loyal following in Southern California. After selling over 1000 copies of the EP online and in person the band recorded their 2011 follow up EP, “Illusions” with Kris Crummett at Interlace Audio (Alesana, Emarosa, Drop Dead Gorgeous). Illusions is a solid blend of metal riffs, sing-a-long catchy choruses, and hard hitting breakdowns that are sure to please those in favor of heavy, aggressive music. The songs are accompanied by an interesting sing/scream vocal trade off that keeps the listener’s attention. Sonically, Illusions not only fits with today’s music scene, it helps City Under Fire separate themselves from the current standard.
