Damien Zygote was born in New York City, NY. After a fairy tale childhood funded by the adult entertainment industry, he eventually relocated to Maine. The culture shock of life in rural Maine led to his experimentation and exploration of alternative realities, while immersing himself into the local music scene. He was briefly involved in a band that was rumored to be a children's doomsday cult called The Amen Family before exiting the group to become a solo artist. After what he describes as "a religious awakening", Damien Zygote went on to create 3 self-produced EPs and Albums. They landed him on the largest Rock / Alternative radio stations in Maine, including Stephen King's WKIT.

Damien Zygote was an outcast from the very beginning and a brave pioneer in the Maine music scene. He found it difficult to assemble musicians who were willing to play with him or could grasp his musical vision. As a result he produced his first 5 demo releases electronically and ended up performing by himself on stage during the early days of his career. Despite the obvious set backs, DZ was able to gain many fans and the respect of musicians who knew his struggle as an artist and his willpower began to propel his career forward.

With each release Damien Zygote explored new genres of music, pushing the boundaries of both life and art. He quickly gained a reputation for the unexpected and soon had a wide variety of fans. It was only a matter of time before a national following began to take shape. DZ's core fans, dubbed S.K.I.D.Z (Sic Kids Into Damien Zygote), helped his national popularity as an artist through the internet and new media as well as street teams.

In early 2007 Damien Zygote caught the attention of Janet Molenaar of Dark Moon Entertainment (NYC / Hollywood) and was quickly given a management contract. DME saw great potential in Damien Zygote as an artist and encouraged him to pursue his roots in heavy metal and alternative rock music. Despite his growing popularity, radio exposure and both regional and national press, DZ still found it difficult to assemble a live band in Maine. He began to lose faith in the idea and went on performing by himself. By 2008 Damien Zygote found himself on every major Rock / Alternative radio station in the state of Maine without the aid of a live band and had been able to perform in many of the best venues in the area.

DZ still felt that something was missing from his music and live performances and after his mother's death in late 2008 he moved from the rural northeast to the heart of the music scene in Portland Maine. As if by some miracle of fate, Damien Zygote was suddenly able to assemble a live band gathering Kyle Devine & Sam Yawdik (notdeadbutsleeping) as well as Mike Bryant (Cryptic Overcast) and began creating music with them. The result has been some of the heaviest and most intense music around.
