Overview: Con and the Mongols is a four-piece, alternative indie rock band that formed its roots just south of Cleveland in early 2004. With diverse influences from bands such as Mogwai, Radiohead, Interpol, Longwave, Simon and Garfunkel, and Modest Mouse, Con and the Mongols creates an eclectic range of original music, from disco instrumentals to drifty, electric bluegrass. This eclectic mixture of influences and sounds has helped to produce CATM's signature "wall of sound" style.
Although guitarists Samuel Moore and Andrew Raz had been in various bands together earlier in their artistic careers, things just seemed to work out when Benjamin Lorman added bass to the group that was previously named Acoustic Shadow. With the final addition of percussionist Jason Hackley, Con and the Mongols became official. Experimenting with unique chord and rhythmic progression, instrumentation, and electronic reproduction of sound, Con and the Mongols can presently be seen playing venues in the greater Cleveland area.
