I'm ALL ABOUT celebrating Election Day! I feel so lucky to live in a country where we pick our own leaders, and I love to honor our democratic process!

To me, the best way to celebrate anything is always with food!

I made what I'm calling "Bipartisan Cupcakes" for all my coworkers today and I thought I should share!

Basically, you need red and blue food dye, and lots of it! Buy 2 packages. Make your cake batter however you normally would: this works for boxed or from scratch recipes.

When the batter is 2/3 mixed completely, separate into 2 bowls, and add about 75 drops of red to one, and 75 of blue to the other. **if you're using yellow cake mix instead of white, you will need about 25 more drops of blue.

Finish mixing so the batters are smooth. Add about 50 additional drops. The color should be STRONG. When you're ready to fill your cupcake tray, just pour in one color, and pour a second on top. Make sure you do half the batch with blue on the bottom, half with red on the bottom. From the outside you can only see the bottom color. The second drop of colored batter will fall inside the cupcake so when you bite in it get revealed!

Bake just as you normally would! This works for icing too; you'll need about 75 drops for 1/2 a container of icing.
