The Heat offers the same set-up as a lot of "buddy-cop" movies. Two people who don't like each other are thrown together to solve a crime and while they're in the process of doing that, they find out that they really do like each other afterall. T
he only difference here is that we're talking about two women. Sandra Bullock plays the straight laced, by-the-book FBI agent and Melissa McCarthy is the foul-mouthed, cop who always manages to call things as they are. These actresses do have good chemistry.
Unfortunately, it seems as though McCarthy is being cast once again as the offensive, crude over-the-top character she played in Bridesmaids. It would just seem like a waste if people started to put her into just one category. She deserves better than that. She is an interesting force on film.
There was no surprise about this movie, it's pretty formula. I would give it two out of four stars.
