I got an email from my son the cop with some helpful news that not a lot of people know about cell phones. Here it is.
I just learned something new (and something old to some of
you) about cell phones.
Type in *"06" like you were making a phone call
and a number will pop up.
This number is specific to your actual physical phone, and
it is more useful than the actual phone number. If you lose your phone,
or your phone is stolen. This number can be used by police to track the
actual phone even if the phone number is changed or transfered to your new cell
phone.
I would implore everyone to just take one second and type in
that number to get this number. Send it to yourself on an email so it can
be retrieved later, just in case. It makes life so much easier us cops.
