Ryan Gosling has made a career out of making the ladies swoon, but just imagine if he had been a part of the Backstreet Boys.  Apparently that almost happened. 

You may remember that Gosling was on the Mickey Mouse Club back in the 90's.  Around that same time, the Backstreet Boys were starting to come together in Orlando.  In a recent interview, Gosling admitted that he was close with A.J. from the band, but he didn't think they'd ever make it big.

Gosling said, "We were like, 'It's never going to happen...didn't they already do that with New Kids?  You're a little late.'  Cut to...I was wrong."  At least he has a sense of humor. 

When asked if he regretted not trying to get a piece of the action, Gosling said no.  Personally, I think he made the right decision.  He said he hasn't seen A.J. recently . . . and joked, quote, "They're not returning my calls."
