Time is running out! The St. Jude Country Music Marathon is coming up in just a couple of weeks, but donations have to be in by April 17th. That's just 7 days away. I haven't quite hit my goal yet so any donation you are able to make would be greatly appreciated. You can donate HERE.
I've kicked up my training efforts this week now that the weather has started to cooperate. I also noticed that running in the hot weather is a little bit harder than the cold. My legs started to get fatigued much earlier. I think I need to work on eating a little better so I can keep up my energy.
I ran a route in Owings Mills on Tuesday. It was my first good long run in about a week. I had to take a short break because my allergies were out of control and I simply couldn't breathe well. That route ended with a nearly mile long incline. I was fighting so hard to finish without walking and it was the picture about that helped push me to finish up my 5.1 mile training run. I kept imagining all of those kids that don't have the option to give up or take it slow. If they want to survive, they have to be all in and ready for whatever comes their way.
I'm trying to keep that same mentality as I train to run in the 1/2 marathon. It's the biggest challenge I've ever given myself, but it's nothing compared to what the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital go through every day. They are all such an inspiration and I couldn't be happier to have started this journey. I know that every cent you all donate to my team will be going to the amazing people at St. Jude.
I'm going to give you daily updates on my progress as we lead up to the end of donations, and the marathon itself. Again, if you can make a donation of any size (there's no donation too small) that would be amazing. You can donate HERE.
Also, don't forget about our special St. Jude happy hour at the Rec Room in Towson on Saturday from 5-8pm. Get the details for that HERE.
