Pacific Rim is the best ride I've felt at a movie since Avatar. Everything about it works. The action scenes look amazingly realistic, the score fits perfectly with the action and the special effects are seamless. Director, Guillermo del Toro, put his heart and soul into this film and that passion is very easy to see. I'm thinking I might even go see it again.
A portal to a different world has opened in the Pacific Ocean and giant alien monsters, called Kaiju, have started to come through, terrorizing coastal areas. In order to battle these monsters, the humans created the Jaegers, massive robot machines, to fight back. Eventually the frequency of the attacks begins to increase and the humans face extinction. It's up to the few remaining Jaegers to save the world.
It's the best thrill ride I've had at the movies in a very long time. My heart was racing from the opening sequence. I even found myself out of breath a few times. It has everything you could want in a big summer blockbuster. Where other movies this summer have failed, Pacific Rim succeeds gloriously. I would even recommend seeing it in IMAX 3D. You won't regret spending that extra few bucks for a ticket. Your theater experience will be so much better that way.
